Once the initial concept of a product is clear, it is time to formulate exactly what it is supposed to do and under what constraints. Also, what it will look like. mSemicon can develop, along with the client and an industrial designer, if appropriate, a formal product specification that will guide the future development of the product as it evolves.
This specification would typically cover items such as mechanical issues (e.g. size, shape, location of controls, displays etc.), environmental considerations (e.g. operating temperatures, vibration etc.), connectivity (if required), agency requirements (e.g. CE marking, EMC, safety, EN regulations, ISO standards and the like) and above all, the product’s functional requirements (i.e. what it is supposed to do).
With a proper product specification in hand, development can begin.
